Letter to the Tamarac Mayor and District 2 Commissioner from neighbor @5302 Date Palm Place

Madam Mayor,
You probably don’t recall but we’d met at the recent open house conducted by 13th Floor Homes at the Woodlands Country Club.
Being very involved in the American Legion my travel schedule prevented me from attending the recent Community Board meeting on April 17.
That said, I’d like to take this opportunity to voice my VERY strong opposition to this project. There are a variety of reasons for this, only 2 of which I’ll outline here:
1) in your recent State of the City message, you advised us that the population of Tamarac grew by 8% last year. At the Open House, we were informed that the projected build-out for this project would be 3-5 years. Using your own information, by the time this project was sold out Tamarac’s population would be appx 89, 000.
2) Connected to the above, if 13th Floor builds the 423 homes they project, assuming only 1 car per household that will add that much more traffic WITHIN the Woodlands, not to mention addition stress on entrance/exits from the community. As you mentioned also in your State of the City address, even now traffic congestion continues to be a problem and this problem will be exacerbated by construction and ultimately addition of that many more cars.
I’m hoping to attend the Planning Board meeting on May 1, but in the meantime call on you in the strongest possible terms NOT so support 13th Floors Rezoning application.
Thank you for your consideration.
Alan Cohen
